Mission, Outreach and Congregational Care
We are a community of believers that care about each other. We provide rides and meals to those in need. We serve communion to the homebound. Besides taking care of our own we also reach out to those in the community. Providing care and support to those among us and around us through fellowship, friendship, and acts of compassion is what Jesus calls us to do.
This is a church active in the world that cares about making a difference and seeks to demonstrate how God's love can change lives.
Third Presbyterian Church has a designated mission project each month which is headed up by the Presbyterian women. This includes collecting items for those in need such as: blankets for the homeless, food for migrant workers on the Eastern Shore, suitcases for the women's shelter, sandwiches for St. Columba, helping VA vets in Hampton Roads and helping other local Norfolk churches with NEST and outreach projects.
In the last few years we have added the Clothes Closet, and a fairly new a Lending Library Box and Food Pantry Box out front of the church for those in need.
Every other Wednesday from 4-6pm and Sunday from 1-3pm, the narthex at Third will be unlocked to accept donations! Donations can also be dropped off on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9am - 1pm during office hours
We are in need of donations including: non-perishable food for our food pantry, books for our community library, clothes for our clothes closet, used athletic shoes for the one million tree project, and empty pill bottles.
We need your help to monitor the narthex during these times and simply ensure safety and safe giving without mischief. If you are willing to help monitor the narthex during any of these times please sign up here: https://bit.ly/TPCGivingGateSignUp
Please remember the homeless this summer. Third Presbyterian Church will be making Summer Care Kits for the homeless receiving services at the Temporary Shelter (former Greyhound bus station) hosted by the Urban Renewal Center in Norfolk. Witness & Outreach will provide the reusable Water Bottles.
Free clothing to those in need! usually the 2nd Saturday of the month 10 AM to 12 NOON . Cleaning your closet? Donate your gently used clothing to this needed ministry. Masks are required.
We have expanded our hours by appointments only, please call the church or email email@example.com
